Aircraft Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Popular Southern California Coast
A chopper hovering over a popular California beach abruptly commenced twirling wildly, eventually losing altitude and crashing into a line of palm groves as beachgoers watched.
Recordings uploaded on social media depict the aircraft beginning to twirl near the shoreline then plunging towards the perimeter of the coast, where it gets stuck amidst palm groves and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Update
The Huntington Beach fire department said five persons were transported to a medical facility involving two individuals who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the accident on that day.
Three individuals on the street were injured. Details on their condition were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was not immediately released.
Planned Function
The department mentioned the aircraft was associated with an yearly “Cars with Copters” fundraising event planned for the following day.
