Exploring a Bizarre Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have discovered a variety of interesting indie games. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game includes a character that is truly a turd attempting to travel to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. Throughout one hundred fifty stages, you'll face mini-bosses and access a store to buy skins for your fecal avatar.

Execute your actions with caution, since one wrong move forces beginning again. Bounce on air pockets to hurl your character higher, navigate crumbling ledges, and activate buttons to open new areas. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on more difficult stages where gameplay gets crazy.

Visually, the game features eye-catching level designs and a killer music score. The retro visual style with moving basic polygons evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name previous releases where you play as a dung character, video games frequently included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make explosives from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. Naturally, fecal references appears heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, such as winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on Steam in the fall.
